Carolina Beach State Park Maternity: Kate + Dave’s Story

“Kate always knew she would be a mother, and was probably envisioning her maternity shoot even before she was pregnant. It wasn’t long after she announced the news, that I got the call from Kate about scheduling her maternity session. This time of her life is very special for her and her husband Dave, so we starting planning and styling this shoot right away. Kate wanted playful and fun because that is definitely ‘them.’ We wanted to utilize both pink and blue, as the parents-to-be were waiting until the birth to learn the gender. We also wanted an over the top gorgeous gown, highlighting the beautiful baby belly, and to be a little more dramatic than the “fun” outfit. I loved the contrast of the gorgeous gown, and the “roughness” of the state park, because after all, that’s parenthood! For the shoot I also wanted a variety of shots so we settled on three very different looks, all accomplishing the main goal of highlighting the beauty and joy of pregnancy.”
