“This could have been a busy image with distracting background elements, but the photographer intentionally did a few things here to make the baby stand out instead: he used a lens with a longer focal length to get the compression in the background/foreground, he is down on baby’s level, he used lines (trees, path, light rays) to lead to baby, and the baby’s face is the brightest part of the image. Altogether these choices made baby the most important subject in the photograph, helping to create a beautiful, peaceful newborn portrait in the woods.”
