Created by Melissa, of Melissa Hines Photography, Cities in Color was created to push each other creatively, through finding colors in our local cities. Each month Melissa picks her favorite 10 images, with the top three images including their stories. The community chose the color pink for the month of April and of course everyone rose to the challenge! May’s color is black
Melissa has chose her top images and they are as followed:

“This image is of a street artist at the Richmond, Virginia Street Art Festival. This festival showcases local and national artistic talent and revitalizes communities in need of some color and creativity. Richmond’s second location, this is such an amazing outlet for people to discover art and how impactful it can be. When you drive through the city there are murals everywhere from this ongoing project started in 2013.”

“My 4 year old son pointed this door out to me on a walk, as he loves this project as much as I do. April, in Cleveland, is not generally very nice, so when it’s warm and the sun is shining, there are always tons of people out and about. As I was setting up the shot, I noticed how great of a reflection I was getting of the people walking by across the street, so all I had to do was wait for the right moment to press my shutter!”
3RD PLACE:

“Beaumaris is a beautiful little town on the Island on Anglesey in North Wales. I love the contrast of the usual grey, rainy or foggy weather that we get in Wales with the bright and colorful houses. Rain and mist always make me pull my camera out, especially when my son wears his yellow raincoat.”
