Cities in Color : Blue

Cities in Color : Blue

When Melissa, of Melissa Hines Photography, posted she wanted to create a group to push each other creatively I knew the blog would be a perfect fit. I reached out to Melissa and suggested we engage people to submit their images for both a blog and publication feature. Each month in the publication I will choose three images to share, along short story from the artists. As well as the top three images,  I will highlight a variety of other images from the month. Melissa then will pick her favorite 10 images, along with the top three image’s stories. Melissa chose the color blue for the first month and it was a great pick! October’s color will be yellow and with fall upon us there sure is to be some great findings!

Melissa has chose her top images and they are as followed:

1st Place

“In the south of France, where we were have been on vacation in September, the light is particularly beautiful and almost all the houses have blue window shutters. In the photo you can see a typical street of the area. I have tried to capture the evening atmosphere with the remaining bit of sunlight on the roof tiles and the blue – beige facades. Because I wanted it to be mainly about the colors, I have chosen to use the soft focus.”

2nd Place

freelense

“I chose this freelensed image because it gives me such a feeling of whimsy and escape from real life. Ironically, I chose it for this theme because it feels so removed from the city, community life, or real life in general. And on a purely simple, non-introspective level, I’m such a sucker for bokeh!”

3rd Place

diner

Rebecca Coursey | Facebook | Website

“Documentary photography has always been aspect of who I am as an artist, it allows me to slow down and look at the beautiful underbelly of my city. This is a busy, popular diner around the corner from where I live. I don’t think I would have noticed the quiet, blue chairs resting there in the shadows of the late evening sun if it wasn’t for this project.”
