DeAnna McCasland Photography

Welcome DeAnna!  Grace and myself are so happy to have you here. Why don’t you tell our fans a little bit about yourself.

First off thank you for this opportunity! I am honored! I am a homeschooling mama of 2. I am married to my best friend and we live in Virginia. I am from a small town from South Carolina and we have been here for about 2.5 years now. I love (and I mean LOVE) coffee. I have an introvert personality and I always tend to put others before myself. And I of course love pictures.

We see that your kids are your passion. Are they what got you into photography?

Of course! Not to sound to cliché, but I got my first DSLR to take better photos of them. After that I started doing photos of family and of friends and the business grew from there. It was almost over night that I went from a stay at home mama to a full time photographer.

What do you shoot with? And what is your go to lens?

Nikon D700 & my 35 1.4G lens stays on it 95% of the time.

If you could give our fans one tip on capturing real life moments, what would it be?

Be patient. Simple enough. 🙂

Your business is being branded right now, who is doing your fabulous work and how did you decide on what you wanted to convey to your fans?

Ashley Stamper at Laynie And Belle did my branding. She did a fabulous job! I wanted my work to most of all reflect me. I put my heart into each image I take and into each session. I wanted a branding that would be my style and something I would be proud to have my name on. And Ashley did a fantastic job at putting it together for me. I even have a feather and bird tattoo on my arm so it really is personal & close to my heart which is how I want to reflect my business.

We see you have lots of projects going on, where will we see you next?

The biggest project I am working on right now would be over at the forum Learn Shoot Inspire. I’m putting together a focus group (online workshop) on how to photograph your children called Everyday Storytelling. I am beyond excited for the opportunity and to be able to share my love & my style with my fans and give them a behind the scenes opportunity to see how it all happens. Im pouring my heart into each lesson so I can’t wait to see it finally come together.
