We are so excited to be kicking off our DIY section of the blog with this sweet, simple & beautiful bunting! This bunting is the perfect way to add a little romance to your home décor, styled sessions or Valentine’s Day parties.
The best part? You can craft your own Vintage Sweetheart Bunting in an hour with this simple tutorial.
All you will need to create your own Vintage Sweetheart Bunting is:
Paper Doilies (4″)
Book Pages (Bonus points for vintage love stories & letters!)
Baker’s Twine (Any color works)
Hot Glue Gun
To get started, trim your book pages into 4″ x 6″ rectangles. Measurements don’t have to be exact, just make sure each rectangle is the same size. We made 6 rectangles for our bunting, but you can make as many as you need!
After your rectangles are all set, trim a triangle shape out of the bottom of each to form the cute bunting shape pictured above. Again, try to keep the cutouts uniform on each piece!
Now for the fun part…grab your doilies & trim a heart shape out of each doilies’ center. Hold onto the cutouts, you’ll need those for the next step.
The best part about this DIY is that you waste very little of the materials! Gather the heart cutouts and tack one onto each book page piece. Try to center each cutout for the best appearance.
Once all of your pieces are prepared, create a layout with alternating doilies & book pages. Don’t be afraid to move the pieces around or add plain doilies & book pages for a varied look.
Finally, tack each piece to a piece of baker’s twine to create a garland. Make sure to leave a few inches of twine at the beginning & end for hanging!
Once your bunting is finished, you can start decorating your mantel, setting the stage for a styled session or simply adding a little love to your workspace.
Get creative with glitter, buttons, ribbon, washi tape & other accents to make this bunting your own.
