What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Bride: I have two moments and it is hard to even pick two because the whole day was memorable and seemed like a dream. As I walked down the aisle I was doing really good at keeping my emotions under wraps, until my brother put my son into the aisle. There I could see my future husband and son side by side, in the same outfits, looking so handsome and I began to tear up. The second most memorable would be our first dance because my husband was sharing his thoughts and emotions regarding our 10 year path to get to that moment. Everything he said was special and it was nice to have some alone time with just him and I.
Groom: I would say the most memorable moment would be watching the doors open as Amanda came down the aisle. I had been so nervous up until that point but as soon as I saw her start walking down the aisle all the nerves went away and I was just happy and excited to be reunited with her in the house of God.
What was the funniest memory from your wedding day?
Bride: The funniest moment I’d say was during the ceremony Joe and I had no clue what to do or when to do it because we really did not have a rehearsal. The day of our rehearsal we found out the father that was suppose to marry us had a family emergency and had to leave the country. So last minute we found a priest who was able to marry us. Basically the whole ceremony we were winging it and we didn’t even know when we were suppose to kiss. I’d guess that most brides would be upset about it but all I could do was laugh.
Groom: The funniest moment for me was when my son walked down the aisle, he was carrying a sign that said “last chance to run dad.” I knew he was going to be carrying a sign but it was a secret as to what it was going to say but it made me laugh watching him walk down the aisle smiling and carrying the sign.
Special moments you will never forget from your wedding day?
Bride: As we rode in the limo together, just my husband, son and myself, drinking sparkling apple juice, I had a chance to reflect. I realized how special it was to have just our little family together because that was the most important thing in the world to me. It reassured me I did the right thing by cutting down on the bridesmaids & groomsmen and guest list in order to concentrate on what was really important.
Groom: Leaving the church as bride & groom, we did a big balloon release. We were sending the party up to heaven with my mom. We then hopped into the limo off to take pictured just with our little family.
What was your favorite detail you did for your wedding?
Bride: I’d say my cake stands because they were a labor of love. I searched for the wood parts all over Toledo & Michigan. My step dad constructed them and my mom painted them. Also the memorial table I did for my mother in law because I worked really hard on picking out the right pictures and selecting frames & decor. I wanted to honor such an amazing & important element to the event that was missed more then anyone could ever know.
Groom: The memorial table, it incorporated my mother into the wedding. She passed several years ago but it put her right there with us that night.
What was the flavor of your cake:
We had four cakes. Pink champagne, orangecile, marble, and chocolate raspberry.
