JoPhoto | Artist Spotlight | Beyond the Wanderlust | Inspirational Photography Blog

When the blog first started, artist spotlights were a huge part! For a little while artist spotlights had stopped but now they are back and with a twist! I am bringing artist spotlights back and adding a speed round of “would you rather” questions; because who doesn’t like to have some fun! If you have an artist you are dying to hear from email suggestions to Jessica at !

Who are you and what makes you tick?

We are a husband and wife team of wedding photographers based in Knoxville, Tenn. Our studio also offers cinematography and we have an associate photographer.  Joe is more the artist and technical guru, and he’s passionate about lighting. Kathleen is more the business and marketing side, and she’s passionate about film photography.

When did you get your start in the industry?

We started in 2008

What would typically be found with you during a shoot?

We usually bring our digital camera (Canon 5dmiii) and film camera (Contax 645), light meter,  film (Fuji 400h or Kodak Portra 400), reflector, and lighting equipment (Light stand, Vagabond mini, Einstein light, umbrella).

If you could dream a perfect shoot, what would it be?

It would be simple, organic, natural, and on top of a mountain with a gorgeous flowing gown and lots of wind!

Name one celebrity you would love to photograph.

Joe would like to photograph The Rock and Kathleen would like to photograph Matthew McConaughey

As a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

Kathleen wanted to be a veterinarian and Joe wanted to be an NBA player.

Here is a quick round of would you rather:

Which movie is better, Harry Potter or Twilight?

Would you rather get rid of all the bad drivers or never have to wait in lines?

Never have to wait in lines

Would you rather be stuck in an elevator for 5 hours or a broken ski lift for 5 hours?

Would you rather be unemployed with 1 million dollars or very happy in a job that you make 1 million every 5 years?

Very happy in a job that made 1 million every 5 years

Thanks to Kathleen + Joe for coming on and sharing their experiences with us! Be sure to head to their social media accounts and check out their amazing work!
