Rob and Kathryn’s spring wedding was one of the most unique & beautiful events we have ever seen.
The wedding was held on Kathryn’s family farm just outside of Wake Forest, NC; a property that has belonged to the family for generations. This is a special place to Rob and Kathryn, as her grandfather and uncle were born in the recently collapsed farming home on the property.
They chose to be wed underneath a giant oak tree on the most beautiful day we could have hoped for.
Since the farm is an actual, functional wheat farm, there were a lot of technical challenges that the planners found creative solutions to. Guests were transported from a nearby church parking lot to the ceremony location by passenger van; as the only accessible by a one-lace dirt road.
As they arrived, they were welcomed with cold bottled water and found comfort in the shade of the impressive oak tree. The space was very quiet, with no homes or roads within a mile of the location. As guest waited there was also a string trio played many beautiful, classical pieces.
The selections played by the trio were also special because Kathryn, a classically trained musician, knew all of them intimately. Every detail of their wedding tied into their unique story. A Chinese dictionary for the guest book was used in remembrance of Rob and Kathryn meeting at an international relations conference and are both fluent in Mandarin. There was also an assortment of brews nodding to their Milwaukee home and rustic Carolina themes throughout the menu & decor to honor Kathryn’s family history. The moonshine and pig picking were especially true to the Carolina culture.
